The two most popular ways to arrive in New Orleans is either by plane or car. If you are arriving by plane, you will be arriving at Louis Armstrong International Airport (MSY) located in Kenner. Kenner is about 25-30 mins from the French Quarter driving so walking isn’t really an option. With walking out of the equation, the four main ways of getting to the French Quarter and surrounding areas are airport shuttle, taking a taxi, Uber or renting a car.

Airport Shuttle:

Shuttle service is available from the airport to hotels and various other locations in the New Orleans for $24.00 (per person, one-way) or $44.00 (per person, round-trip). These fares include three (3) bags per person. Additional baggage may be subject to additional fees. Passengers can purchase tickets at the Airport at Airport Shuttle ticket booths located on the first level throughout the Baggage Claim area.

The only major drawbacks to taking a shuttle is that you may have to wait for the shuttle to fill with other passengers or you may have to wait for the shuttle to get to your hotel while it makes it stops at other passenger’s hotels.

Taxicabs:

Taxicab booths are located on the first level of the Terminal outside of Baggage Claim Belts 1 and 14. Passengers must wait in line at one of these booths for taxi service.

Taxi rides cost $36.00 from the airport to the Central Business District (CBD) or French Quarter (west of Elysian Fields) for up to two (2) passengers. For three (3) or more passengers, the fare will be $15.00 per passenger. Taxis are required accept credit card payments.

Uber:

Uber offers transportation services from the Airport. Passengers can meet their app based ride service in the Ground Transportation Center located on the first floor of the Short-Term Parking Garage.  Click here for detailed instructions.

Car Rental:

The Consolidated Rental Car Facility (CONRAC) is located a short walk away from the main terminal. Passengers should exit the Baggage Claim area (first level) near Belts 12-14 and continue to the right down a covered walkway to the CONRAC. Nine (9) rental car companies currently operate at the airport. For contact information for these companies, please visit the individual Rental Information page.
