City Park in New Orleans is a favorite among the locals because of its beauty, never ending list of things to do, and affordable pricing (almost everything is free!). Another huge plus is everything is just a 5 minute walk away. With all that being said, to really experience City Park one must spend just about their entire day there. Here’s how you should do so:

Noma

The New Orleans Museum of Art is located right in the heart of the park, with a view of the lake to the right and the Sculpture Garden to the left. The art collections range from Native American to photography to textiles to decorative arts. Make sure to visit on Wednesdays as admission is free for everyone!

Sculpture Garden

The Sculpture Garden is an outdoor extension of NOMA. The garden has over 20 sculptures surrounded by flowers, greenery, oak trees, and even a pond. Admission is always free and open to all ages. Five dollar yoga classes are also held in the Sculpture Garden every Saturday morning at 8:00 am.

Wheel Fun Rentals

Rent out swan pedal boats, kayaks, surrey bikes, and much more. Take the boats out on the big lake or enjoy a self-guided bike ride tour of the park. Rates are listed here on the Wheel Fun Rentals website.

Wildflower Field

A true local spot, see the small field of pink and orange flowers that only bloom in the summertime. People come here to take pictures for all kinds of occasions, like weddings and Christmas cards. The field may not be enormous, but it truly looks like something out of a fairytale. Wildflower Field is located on the corner of Marconi Dr. and Roosevelt Mall.

Carousel Gardens Amusement Park

City Park has its very own amusement park! There lives the infamous carousel, the park’s main attraction. In addition to rides, the park also has a “story land”. Story Land brings all of your favorite fairy tales to life – a super fun experience for kids.

City Putt

Right across from the amusement park is a great mini golf course called City Putt. The complex has 36-holes between two courses. Each hole has a New Orleans/Louisiana theme that not only teaches players about New Orleans culture, but also makes playing all the more fun.

Café du Monde

Just a couple steps away from the amusement park and City Putt are delicious authentic New Orleans made beignets. Stop at Café du Monde for a quick bite and while the kids play on the jungle gym right in front of the restaurant!

City Park Pepsi Tennis Center

The City Park Pepsi Tennis Center is a newly remodeled center with 26 courts, showers, and a locker room for the players. Reserve a court for a fun game of tennis with friends and family.
